Nicole Martin (@nicolelynn.esq), an attorney and legal program director for Know Your Rights Camp's Autopsy Initiative, and Cayden Brown (@thecaydenbrown), a juvenile defense attorney, presented on legal rights at the Camp in Detroit. They used realistic scenarios to teach the youth about their rights during police encounters, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to remain silent and the difference between being detained and arrested. The presentation deeply resonated with the youth, who shared their own experiences, affirming the relevance of the scenarios. Cayden's personal experiences drove him to ensure the youth were prepared for real-life situations, and both were moved by the intelligent and empowered responses from the participants, highlighting the importance of legal literacy in Detroit.
