Kamala Harris Replaces Joe Biden As Democratic Nominee For 2024 Presidential Election

Current Vice President Kamala Harris has officially launched her campaign for the White House after President Joe Biden stepped aside due to pressure from party leaders. Biden has endorsed Harris, who currently faces no challengers for the Democratic nomination, which will be decided at the August 19 convention in Chicago. Harris expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.”

She emphasized her commitment to uniting the Democratic Party and defeating Donald Trump, stating, “We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”

In her announcement, Harris praised Biden’s “extraordinary leadership,” noting his achievements in a single term, which she believes surpass those of many two-term presidents. She highlighted Biden's dedication, saying, “With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else.”

Biden’s endorsement of Harris was echoed by former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Biden’s close aides have also indicated their intent to unite the party quickly behind Harris, with less than four months remaining in the 2024 campaign.

If elected, Harris would become the first woman to hold the state's highest office alongside the first Black and Asian woman to do so as well.
