Georgia Sheriff Kris Coody Pleaded Guilty To Sexually Assaulting TV Personality Judge Glenda Hatchet

Former Bleckley County, Georgia Sheriff Kris Coody has resigned from his position and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor sexual battery charge.

He was accused of grabbing the breast of TV personality Judge Glenda Hatchett's chest at a reception in 2022. He has been sentenced to 12 months probation, community service, a $500 fine, and an alcohol and drug evaluation.

Hatchett, known for roles on TV shows like "Judge Hatchett" and "The Verdict with Judge Hatchett," recounted the incident during a recent news conference. "But then he grabbed my breast. He grabbed my left breast. He squeezed it, he then started rubbing on my breast," Hatchett said. Former DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown, who witnessed the incident, previously told CNN affiliate WSB that he intervened when he saw Coody grab the judge's breast.

"I grabbed his arm threw it off of her chest," Brown told the news station, adding he asked Coody what he was doing, and the interaction ended.

The incident left Hatchett deeply affected, causing emotional distress that required therapy.

Coody had been in his second term as the county's sheriff since January 2017 but recently submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. His attorney stated that Coody regrets his actions and decided to take full responsibility for them.
