An officer from the Chicago Police Department has been charged with sexually abusing a minor

What a disgrace.

An officer from the Chicago Police Department is being charged with sexual abuse of a minor inside a car in Norridge.

Police in Norridge said around 10 a.m. Monday, a minor notified them they had been abused two days earlier, on March 25 at 1 p.m. in a car in the 4500-block of Harlem Avenue.

According to investigators, David Deleon, a Chicago police officer, knew the child he is accused of abusing, and was arrested Wednesday.

The charges against Deleon include aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery in a public place. The bond court heard his case Friday morning.

Deleon has been relieved of his authority as a Chicago police officer, according to the Chicago Police Department.

A police officer abusing a child is a serious breach of trust and a violation of the very principles that law enforcement is supposed to uphold, making it exceedingly difficult to trust them in general.
